HIFU, also known as Ultrasound Lift or HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is a revolutionary, non-surgical skin firming and lifting therapy with extremely promising results.

HIFU works within the muscle layer to stimulate collagen and strengthening of the muscle layer. This leads to significant tightening and firming, evidenced outwardly by an obvious improvement in skin sagging, folds and wrinkles. Additional benefits include a much more defined jaw line and overall enhancement of skin texture and tone of the face and body.

How does it work?

Your skin is first cleansed and numbing cream is applied. A smooth applicator placed upon your skin projects an image onto a screen. This same applicator delivers low levels of focused heat at just the right depth below the skin to achieve a positive effect, leaving the surface of your skin undisturbed. Collagen deposition increases and strengthening of the facial muscle layer occurs ultimately resulting in a natural lift and conditioning of the skin over time.

How is this procedure different from other non-surgical skin tightening procedures?

HIFU is the only skin rejuvenation procedure that utilizes ultrasound to treat the skin. Comparatively with other skin tightening machines, HIFU is also more comfortable and better tolerated.

What is the procedure like?

HIFU is a relatively comfortable procedure. Occasionally, clients may feel a warm, prickly or tingling sensation beneath the skin. The treatment takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes. After the treatment, your skin may appear slightly flushed, but any redness will subside within a few hours.

How many treatments will I need?

HIFU produces excellent results. However, unlike thread lift treatments, they will not be evident immediately. Visible lifting and firming will only be noticeable in about 2 to 3 months. As a rule of thumb, 1-2 sessions are adequate and this will be determined by our doctors upon consultation.

What areas can be treated?

HIFU can be done on any part of your face including the forehead, mid and lower face. In some cases, the neck is also treated. A full face and neck treatment will result in maximal enhancement. HIFU can also be used to tighten and firm other areas of body such as the abdomen, arms, thighs and even calves.

What kind of results can I expect?

The regenerative process is initiated right away so some clients may be able to see lifting of the skin. However, the full effect will build gradually over the course of two to three months and some clients will see optimal results only after a few months. In the FDA clinical trial, nine out of ten patients had a noticeable, significant lift of the brow line. This resulted in opening up of the eyes and a more youthful appearance overall. Patients also reported firmer, tighter, better-fitting skin in other areas of the face and neck as well.
